Gay couple photo session at Gothic Quarter and El Borne – Barcelona

The best light

The best months for photo shooting in Barcelona are from November to March. This gay photoshoot was in January 2020. The sun is not too hight, and the light is excellent. The only problem: it’s cold, but right now, it’s not so cold as it should be due to global warming. So we are having temperatures of 6º to 15º degrees celsius and it’s not so cold! Perfect for a photo shooting.

The gay couple

My friends Javier and Rafa wanted to have photos of them in Barcelona, so we decided to use the Gothic Quarter, El Borne and France Station (Estació de França-train station) to have some candid photos.

A big advantage here in Barcelona is that this city is gay-friendly, so it’s absolutely usual to see different photo sessions of homosexual couples in different locations. And it’s usual for photographers to have many gay weddings throughout the year.

Gay couple photographer

As a wedding and couple photographer, it was very easy to get stunning photos with this couple. Javi (world champion of salsa, freestyle, from Mexico) and Rafa (a social activist for LGTBI rights here in Barcelona) did a great job and they had a really good time.

For me, the essential part of the photo session was to let them be themselves. I just said: have fun, and talk to each other like a usual morning, laugh, kiss and behave completely normal. Just two or three times I told them to look at the camera because I think that natural photos are much better than posed.

And here’s the result. Hope you like them too. And if you need a photographer for your gay wedding in Barcelona, gay engagement or anything related to it, please contact me!
